Information about taking your practical driving test in Leeds

The practical driving test in Leeds lasts for around 40 minutes and you will be tested on a wide range of roads and driving conditions. The driving test can be taken at one of 2 practical driving test centres located in the Harehills or Horsforth areas of Leeds.

The practical driving test can be broken down into 3 sections:

The Eyesight Check - At the beginning of the driving test a driving exmainer will ask you to read a vehicle number plate from a minimum distance of 20 metres with the aid of glasses or contact lenses if you need to wear them.

Car Safety Questions - You will also be asked to explain or demonstrate you knowledge of basic car checks. This is also known as "tell me, show me" questions.

Main Driving Section - On the main driving section you will be directed by the driving examiner for most of the test. You will also be required to carry out a independant driving section and complete a reversing exercise & maybe an emergency stop exercise.
